Tajo del Abanico

Ronda's other, little-known gorge is just as spectacular as its more famous counterpart. This circular walk takes us out of the southern end of town on gentle country tracks, through a hidden valley and beautiful oak woods. Deer and vultures are a common sight. Crossing a stream, we come to the gorge, a favourite with climbers with its fan-shaped rock formations (hence the name abanico), and check out the cave, which featured in Francisco Rosi's 1984 film Carmen. The walk ends in pretty Barrio San Francisco.
